Why is LOTO Required?
Pressing a machine on the stop button does not mean that the energy source is physically separated. Electricity, pressure, temperature, land-track, foam and reversed parts can continue to pose danger. LOTO aims to identify, separate, lock and verify the state of powerlessness of these sources.
The basic application order
The scope of the work is determined, the affected employees are informed and the machine is stopped by the normal method. Energy separation devices are shut down; personal locks and labels are installed. Stored energy is discharged or taken into security. In the last step try-out and zero energy is verified with the appropriate measurement method.
Do not reactivate safely
When the work is completed, equipment, protectors and work area are checked. it is verified that employees have gone out of the dangerous area. Each employee removes his own personal lock; after the affected persons are informed, energy is returned in a controlled manner.
